It is a very sad and hard time for me this year because one of my favorite family traditions is going to the Pumpkin Patch back in California.
My sister and her family, our Parents, and my family all went to a place called Bishops Pumpkin patch. This place grows every year and you can spend a whole day there. From Hay rides to animal petting zoo, watching them make apple cider, mother goose and the pig show, lots of stuff for the kids to play on and run around, train ride around the property PLUS of course going out to the fields and getting a pumpkin. They have a food area that looks like an old town.....just a TOTAL BLAST!
So this year now that we have moved across the pound and fall is upon us, my first thoughts when to where are we going to go for a pumpkin patch? England doesn't celebrate Halloween so its not like they are on every corner as it seems to be in the states. They did have a pumpkin patch however in a area called Beck Row. Thankfully one of my new friends told us about it and we decided that it sounded good enough to visit.
Manly because she said something about HOT Donuts?.....Yeah I was already sold.
This morning we got up did our house chores and headed for Beck Row which is over by RAFM here in England. It was one of the smallest pumpkin patches this side of the supermarket I had ever seen but it was going to have to do. They had donkey rides, ha ha. A few and I mean few little venders set up to by either jams, face painting, or a selected few decoration items for fall. A 2ish? acres of land that had pumpkins already cut and moved in size of price that you basically just walked up to and picked. eh, but at least we got something. They also had a corn maze. Then in the corner was a small food truck that had a sign about Donuts. We of course headed straight for that (wink) the donuts were not what I expected but hey its England I cant really expect to get an American donut here. Mike and I both agreed it tasted like a mushy cerro lol Then we grabbed some pumpkins. Realizing that neither Mike nor I really planned what we needed for the trip we couldn't do much else. I had a wallet full of Dollars not Pounds and no one took American money. Poo.
But we managed to get some great pumpkins and the kids are really excited to carve them. We are planning on waiting a little while so that they last more then the first week of October.
